LIFE INSURANCE

MEN ON ACTIVE SERVICE

i 'Increases in the premiums payable on new life insurance policies during any period in which the insured persons are on active service will be made shortly by the insurance companies, states the Christchurch "Press." Those companies which have their headquarters in Australia will meet in conference on Thursday to discuss the situation, and no decision is likely to be announced in New Zealand until shortly after.

There will, managers of insurance firms stated yesterday, be no increase in the premiums payable on existing policies, unless they contain special clauses providing for higher war risks, and one company has already announced the suspension of the clause in its policies increasing the premiums to be paid by persons who engage in submarine or aircraft operations.
