The Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C., has accepted the position of Dominion president of the New Zealand Red Cross Society (Incorporated).

Dr. H. Kenrick Christie, of Wanganui, will be one of the New Zealand *,•' delegates to the Pan-Pacific Surgical * Conference at Honolulu in September.

Mr. C. W. Smith, of the Texas Co. (Australasia) Ltd., who has been oa a business trip in the South Island, returned to Wellington this morning.

Dr. R. Jack, professor of physics at the University of Otago, arrived at Wellington from the south today. ■

Dr. H. G. Denham, professor of chemistry at Canterbury UniversityCollege, arrived at Wellington from the south today.
