SPECIALLY COMPOSED

MUSIC FOR COMPETITIONS

A copy of a pianoforte composition, "Valsette," specially written for one of the junior pianoforte classes in the Wellington Competitions Society's Centennial festival next year, was received today from the composer Mr. W. E. Fowler, of Bristol, England. Mr. Fowler, who is a well-known organist and director of the Bristol Eisteddfod, judged the instrumental sections at Wellington in 1935 and it was hoped that he would be able to act again in a similar capacity next year. In a letter conveying his greeting's to the society, Mr. Fowler expressed regret that he would be unable to obtain the necessary leave from his church year.
