FAREWELL TO PLUNKET

NURSE

(From "The Post's" Representative.)

A representative gathering of members of Plunket committees and "Plunket mothers" met for tea at the Mia j Mia Tearooms on Wednesday afternoon to bid farewell to Nurse Lumsden. All were loud in their praise of Nurse Lumsden's excellent work for the society. Some of those present were Miss Nevin (president), Mrs. T. A. H. Field, Mrs. Knapp, Miss Hunter Brown, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. Wallace, Nurses Pascoe, Lumsden, Hunt, and Beatson, and Mesdames Parker, Hood, Pitts Brown, R. Hunt, Pownall, and Carncross. Homeward Bound. An enjoyable tea was given the other morning at the Mia Mia Tearooms by Mrs. E. Bairstow, who will leave next week on her return to England. Mrs. Bairstow has been in New Zealand for several months and has spent most of that time in Nelson, where she has made many friends. Some of her guests were Mrs. S. A. Gibbs, Mrs. V. Rout, Mrs. Caselberg, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. H. V. Searle, Mrs. Samuel, Misses Lucas, Harkness, Tomlinson, and Taylor. At Morning Tea. Another morning tea this week was given by Mrs. Campbell Smith at her home in Nile Street. The guest of honour was Mrs. Gordon, Wellington, whi. has been staying with Mrs. Hugh Leggatt. Among the guests were Mrs. M. v Airey, Mrs. W. Squires, Mrs. T. Nossiter, Mrs. T. A. Johnston, Mrs. J. Leggo, Misses Hayes and Clark. Wcraen's Club. An excellent reading was given oy the play-reading circle at the Women's Club this week. The play read was "Sixteen," by Aimee and Philip Stuart, and it was unfortunate that more members were not present to appreciate aa excellent interpretation., Those taking part were Mrs. A. Campbell, Mrs. P. R. Parker, Mrs. C. Graham, Mrs. A. Glasgow, Mrs. Dv Flou, and Misses Blackett, Wearing, and Jeffries.
