ESPERANTO
This week's meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club, held on Monday night in the clubrooms. 62 Lower Cuba Street, was presided over by Mr. E. A. Hornblow, who reported that correspondence had been received by the club and individual members from Sweden, Finland, Denmark. France, Italy. Germany, and Japan. Mr. JNT Hill reported that Mr. C. J. Adcock, who will represent New Zealand at the International Esperanto Congress to be held in Berne, Switzerland, shortly, had now made contact with the' Paris office of the International Esperanto League. After the tuition hour, I an entertaining cameo of original character sketches was presented, the players being Miss Pamela Saunders and Messrs. M. and P. Carver E G Bernield. F. A. Bailey. L. Jowers P Mcßea. J. Allen. D. Kirk, N. Hill and C. Toomer. The chief feature of the weekly meet- • ing of the Miramar Esperanto Society, held on Monday night in the clubroom. St. Aidan's Hall, Miramar Avenue, was the introduction of "Esperanto only" after the instruction period. The first portion of the evening was devoted to tuition under the direction of Miss Joye Sutherland, and Messrs. A. R. F. Butler, William Smith (secretary). William Guest, and the president. The members of the senior group were assigned the task bf writing during the week an essay in Esperanto on "Music." At the conclusion of classes, supper was served and English temporarily forgotten. A word-building game in Esperanto was played and gave members an opportunity of displaying their talent and knowledge of the language. A display of' Esperanto periodicals from Europe was of particular interest.
