TRAVEL CLUB

MORNING TEA FOR NEW

MEMBERS

The first morning tea given by the Wellington Travel Club to welcome new members and any visitors passing through Wellington was held at the pleasant club room in the T. and G. building yesterday morning. The j hostesses were Mrs. H. D. Bennett (executive member), Mrs. D. Rodie, Mrs. Len McKay (members of the ladies' committee), and Miss N. E. Donovan (secretary)- The room looked gay with bright spring flowers arranged everywhere. The new members welcomed were Mrs. A. Congalton, Mrs. P. G. Harle, Mrs. S. L. A. Stevenson, Mrs. L. M. Butler, and Mrs. John Denniston. Also present were Mrs. G. G. Stewart, Mrs. Wallis Jackson, Mrs. C. C. Bullock, Mrs. A. W. Mulligan, and Mrs. Hepburn Dick, the retiring members of j the ladies' committee. Miss M. Morris, a visitor from Cape Town, was also cordially welcomed. After morning tea was served, Mrs. H. D. Bennett briefly welcomed Miss Morris and the new members and said that the club was very pleased to have the opportunity of meeting new members personally. The morning teas, she stated, would be held fortnightly in addition to the club functions and would greatly augment the club's facilities for welcoming visitors who would know that the hand of friendship was being extended to them. Mrs. Bennett said that she felt sure that the room would not be large enough to hold the new members and visitors, especially during the Centenary period.
