VISIT TO DOMINION
LONDON MAiMAGER OF THE
FRUIT BOARD
(By Air Mail, from "The °ost's" London Representative.) LONDON. July 31. A passenger by the Dominion Monarch, due at Wellington on September 8, will be Mr. H. Turner, London, ! manager of the New Zealand Fruit Board. The purpose of his visit to New Zealand is connected with the Governj ment's plans for taking over the Dominion's apple and pear crops and paying the farmers a guaranteed price. Mr. Turner has had several conversations with the Hon. W. Nash, Minister of Finance and Marketing, in London, and his presence in New Zealand will be of considerable value and assistance to Mr. Nash when the Government's marketing scheme for fruit is being discussed. It is likely that Mr. Turner will remain in New Zealand until the New Year.
Jewellery and valuables worth £ 1400 were stolen from the Paris restaurant owned by Georges Carpentier, former world heavyweight boxing champion.
