FASTER STILL
THIRD RADIO TOWER
HOISTED TODAY
Messrs. William Cable and Co., Ltd., Kaiwarra, who,. having fabricated the big steel towers to carry the improved aerial system for the Government wireless station ZLW on the top of Tinakori Hill, also have the job of hoisting them jon their foundations on this exposed hill-top have reduced the work to a fine art. At any rate, each succeeding tower that goes up is hoisted in faster time than the one which immediately preceded it. This morning the third of the new towers was placed in its upright position,, and the actual-lift took only fourj and a half minutes, and it was done, j moreover, against a wind* of 25 miles an hour. This is the best effort to date. I Naturally there were points to be found out when the. first of the. new' towers was hoisted. That lift by the electric wincb took, about 35 .minutes.1 Five weeks later, on a beautifully fine afternoon, the second tower went up in [about eigh, minutes.
Three more towers remain lifted to complete the work.
