PALMERSTON MARKETS
The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report that due to adverse weather conditions extremely small entries of both tries and poultry came forward at their sale held on Thursday. There was a particularly good demand, however, for what was offered, prices remaining firm on last week's rates. Quotations are as follows:—
Pigs.—Best weaners, 23s 6d; slips. 275; light porkers, 38s. Poultry.—Best W.L. hens, 8s to 10s p-r pair; lighter hens, 6s 2d to 7s per pair; ducks, 8s to 9s per pair; cockerels, 8s to 10s per pair; pullets, 4s 6d to 5s 6d each; roosters, 7s to 8s 6d per pair; heavy hens, 9s to Us per pair. Produce. —Apples, Delicious, 13s tJd i 14s 6d; Stunners, 10s to Us; Jonathans. 10s. to 12s 6d; Rome Beauty. 11s to 12s 6d; Statesmen, Us to 12s. Pears, Winter Cole, 8s to Us; cookers, 6s to 8s 6d; cabbage. Savoy. 10s to 19s 6d; cauliflowers, Us to 14s: carrots, 6s to 8s per sugar bag; parsnips, 6s to 7s 6d case; lettuce, 5s to 32s case; leeks. 7s 6d to 8s 9d; swedes, 5s to 6s 6d per cental bag: pumpkins, 19s to 255; spinach. 8s to 10s; celery, 5s to 8s; onions, 20s to 22s per bag; potatoes, 21s to 22s per cwt.
