COLONEL W. D. HOLGATE
(Special to the "Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The death occurred on Saturday i morning of Colonel William Douthwaite Holgate, 0.8. E., company. director, at his residence at Wynyard Street. Colonel Holgate had been a prominent citizen of Auckland for almost 40 years in various walks of life, but was chiefly known for his interest in coal mine and /farm . land development , and |or his:tife-long; leadership :'•" in iwlitary* activities.--He was for many years deputy chairman and then chairman of the Devonport Steam Ferry' Company, Limited, chairman of Waikato Carbonisation, Limited, and was president of the New Zealand CoalMine Owners' Association from 1926 until his resignation two years ago. ■■■■'--■ ■••_■
