INTERESTING PROGRAMME
The Wellington Competitions Society's annual festival is being continued today and classes in all sections are being judged. Preliminary tests were heard in two senior vocal classes —the special Chappell voice section and the women's Irish folk song section. An interesting programme has been drawn up for the second evening concert programme tonight. Two recalls will be heard in the boys' song under 12, character story dance under 12, skipping dance under 8, tap dance 14 to 16, Wellington Competitions Society's Vocal Scholarship, women's English folk song, bass test solo, tap dance 16 and over, and special Chappell vocal solo sections. Selected competitors from the vocal, dancing, and elocution sections, including several humorous items, will also take part. An outstanding item of Saturday night's, concert programme was the singing of the children's choirs. The Lower Hutt choir, which won the section for the children's choir under 16, was outstanding. It was conducted by Mrs. C. F. Tunley, L.R.S.M. The Hastings Junior Choir, which was placed second, was conducted by Madame Mercer, and the St. Alban's School Choir, which gained the third place, .by Mr. George M. Martin, Mus. Bac. .
