TALAVERA CLUB
The question of the increase to be made in affiliation fees by- the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association was discussed at the annual meeting of the Talavera Municipal Tennis Club on Wednesday night. After discus* sion it was decided that the club would continue its affiliation and support the association as far as possible. Mr. N. Instone presided. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet Mr. Instone congratulated the club on its strong financial position. He considered that the policy of the previous committees was being rewarded and, although a fairly considerable amount was being spent this season on court improvements, the accumulated fund was reaching a figure which would grsatly helj> to ensure the continued tenure of the courts by the club. The. full-time and njd-week membership had remained VAc same Jls for the previous season, said the annual report During the season the main debt incurred for the formation of the club had been reduced by £50, and now stood at £100. It was hoped that the outstanding debt would be totally liquidated at the end of two years. The courts were to be resurfaced before the beginning of the season. The following were elected to the executive for the coming season:— Patron, Mr. R. A. Wright; president, Mr. N. R. Instone; club captain, Mr. O. C. Haynes; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. V. R. Stace; committee, Messrs. S. Marris and E. Rishworth, Misses M. Cochrane and M. Parker; hon. auditor, Mr. J. L. Dyson; hon. i solicitor, Mr. C. J. Stace.
