INSTITUTE OLD BOYS' CLUB

Mr. L. J. Brabin presided at the annual meeting of the Institute Old Boys' Cricket Club last evening in the Boys' J Institute. There was a good attendance. Honoraria were granted to the hon. j secretary and hon. treasurer as a small token of appreciation for their services to the club during the 1938-39 season. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. L. T. Watkins; president, Mr. W. A. Parton; vicepresidents, Messrs. P. W. Banks, A. M. Pinkerton, A. Regan, P. F. Stevens, A. E. Donoghue, R. Spring, H. R. Hicks, D. T. A. Burt, J. Hutchings, C. T. Worth, jun., C. "Rogers, F. Ross, A. Thompson, j. D. Howitt, L. J. Brabin, B. Mabin, S. Coupland, C. S. Laughlin; hon. secretary, Mr. J. R. Perston; hon. treasurer, Mr. C. M. Owen; hon. auditor, Mr ; P. F. Stevens; club captain, Mr. C. R. Bartlett; management committee, Messrs; 'N,- Griffiths, L. Calvert,J M. Bilby, W. Reid, J. Scott, A. McLean, j H. Paige; delegates to Wellington j Cricket Association, Messrs. N. Grif-' fiths, L. J. Brabin, J. D. Howitt, and M. Bilby. . The annual report of the club stated that the membership had been maintained and the -club was able to field eleven teams in the various grades. Officers were thanked for the excellent; service they rendered during the season. Thanks were also due to the' Press, the umpi^s, and the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association. Several of the club's junior players received coaching from Mr. Roy Sheffield. It was felt, however, that a better scheme than that at present in vogue could be c\ 7olved, and the committee strongly recommended the management committee of the association to give this serious consideration. The club was again successful in winning the club championship.
