B GRADE SEMI-FINAL

Brooklyn and Hutt, who were equal first in section I of the B grade, with only one loss each, will shoot off at the Harbour Board range nest Thursday week,. August 24. The winner of this match will shoot against Harbour Board, who were first in section 2, at a later, date, to decide the B grade interclub championship. C GRADE. Owing to an error in the C grade fixtures in section 2, the Hutt 2 v. W.W.M.C. match will be fired this week. Each team will fire on its own range. PETONE CENTRAL CLUB. The Petone Central Club entertained the "Evening Post" Club to a friendly match last week. Mr. A. E. Ffrost welcoming the visitors, remarked on the good spirit that has existed between the two clubs for a number of years. Mr. H. Nickless replied. The match resulted :— "Evening Post."—R. Jenkins, 70 ; C. Dobson, V. Glni, and H. Nickless, 69; Miss Callaghan, Mrs. Nickless, and C. Rooke, 67; Mrs. Massey, 66; V. Burrowes, C. Massey, and W. McGrath, 64; W. Stevens, 61; total, 797. Petone Central.—F. Gilder, 70; C. Reeves and J. Ashman, 69; H. Smith and S. Nicholl, 68; J. Dawson and C. McCawe, 66; A. E. Ffrost, 65; R. Hepburn, 64 : P. Taplin and T. Howitt, 63; J. Richards, 62; total, 791. AOTEA CLUB. The best scores for the week at the Aotea Club were: R. H. Hunt, 70, and T. Gpodall, R. Dawson, G. Trevelyan, and W. G. Scambary, 69. In the ladies' section Miss Smith and Mrs. ■ Dawson scored 68 each. R. Hunt still leads in the club championship. J. Pitt has displayed P. Stewart for second place. With only three more shoots to go the position is interesting. "EVENING POST" CLUB. There was a considerable all-round improvemen in the shooting last night, several good scores being recorded. Possibles were obtained by H. Nickless and E. Dean, 69's by W. Stevens. K. MacDowall, and R." Jenkins. Miss Stevens shot ' a Sine 68. Last month's competitions were won as follows:—A grade: R. Jenkins. 1; Mrs. Massey. 2. B grade: V. Burrowes. The "Billy Williams" Shield competition was commenced last night, and it Is pleasing to see so many ladies entering. . . The Centennial competition has received such large support that members will have to work in with the squadding officer in order to get their shoots completed. The NickleSs Buttons were won by Mrs. Massey and K. MacDowall. The squadding officers would like to see a little more co-operation from the members in getting down on the mound, as a little more alacrity in this matter would relieve things considerably. HUTT LADIES' CLUB. The Hutt Ladies' first monthly competition winners were Mrs. Donkin and Miss M. Calder. who tied for the B grade, and Miss D. Williams, C grade. Miss M. Calder, B grade, and Miss D. Williams, C grade, were the winners for the most bulls badges. Miss B. Calder is congratulated on winning the A grade aggregate in the recent ladies' Wellington championship meeting, and the A team on winning the teams match. . As a mark of respect in the passing or the late Mr. Donkin, a vice-president of the club, two minutes' silence was observed at last week's me6Ung- SOUTH CLUB. The ties for the July competitions of the South Club have been decided. The A grade tie for second trophy between Nyberg and Congreve resulted in favour of Nyberg. In the B grade the tie between ■ Miss Stratford and Culver was won by Miss Stratford, who takes first trophy. Culver taking the second. The Congreve Jug for August was won by Nyberg, with a possible. Points for the Goodwill trophy are: Miss Stratford 3, Culver 2. < HARBOUR BOARD CLUB. The result of the July trophy at the Harbour Board Club is as follows:—G. Jones 397.99, L. M. Rush 396.10, J. Ritchie 395.96, T. Mottram 394:64. Possibles were scored by L. M. Rush (2), J. Ritchie, and S. Hope, and 99's were got by J. Ritchie (2), P. Coote (2), and B. Moss. In this series the shooting was of very high standard, particularly as G. Jones and T. Mottram are first-year shots. ' After two completed rounds in the club championships the position is as follows: —P. Coote 980, L. M. Rush 978, S. Hope 978, B. Moss 973, J. Ritchie 973. As the trophy shooting is most consistent the club championship should prove very interesting as it progresses.. The pell Cup competition, which includes handicaps, has one more round to go. The position at present is:—L. M. Rush 789.35, P. Coote 789.01, T. Mottram 787.67, S. Hope 787.36, 3. Ritchie 787.17, B. Moss 786.31, R. Nightingale 781.45, T. McGill 781.09, R. Mottram 781.06. This cup was a very generous donation made recently by Mr. Jimmy Bell, an old member of the club, who is now resident in Auckland, but still takes a great deal of Interest in the activities of the club. PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB. The highest scores returned by the senior members on Thursday at the Public Service Club were those of D. McGlnnity. J. Reid, and A. V. G. Wilson, 68 each, and L. B. Stichbury, 67. In the junior grades J. L. Warsaw aed C. Lye scored 62 each, and G. W. Dodds, P. Kendon, and Mrs. V. Wilson 61 each. Three members tied for the Caughley Feathers, and a shoot-off resulted in a possible each being scored by Reid and Wilson. In a further shootoff, shot for shot, Reid dropped to a nine on his third. Wilson carried on to finish up with 99 ex 100. In the junior grade C. Lye retained the feathers. Two season's tickets for the Centennial Exhibition are being awarded as prizes in a series of ten-shoot "own start" competitions. The members are being divided into two grades, and the leading aggregates over six shots will decide the winners. The result of the first shoot (on Thursday) was as follows: —Senior grade: D. A. Rosie, 98, 3—99; L. B. Stichbury, 97, 4— 99, and 97, 1—98; G. W. Dodds, 93. 6 —99; A. V G. Wilson, 99, 3—98: D. McGinnity, 97, 5—98. Junior grade: H. G. Owens, 88, 12—100; J. L. Warsaw.,B3, 15—98; P. Kendon, 90, 12— 98. SATURDAY AFTERNOON SHOOT. Although the attendance at the range last Saturday was below the average some good scores were recorded. Possibles were achieved by D. McGlnnity, 97, 3—loo. and A. A. Ford, 95, s—loo.5 —100. In the shoot-off Ford took first prize and McGinnity second. L. C. Forsyth won the novelty competition, and A.. A. Ford was second. The best rifle scores were those of A. V. G. Wilson (99), G. W. ' Congreve, L. C. Forsyth, and R. Mead (98 each).

The. usual shoot will take place next Saturday.
