(Received August 12, 1.30 p.m.)
ISTANBUL, August 11,
The Jews aboard the steamer Parita mutinied and forced the captain ashore to prevent the ship leaving Turkish
waters.
An Istanbul cablegram published yesterday stated: The Turkish authorities refused to permit 600 Czech Jewish refugees to land from the steamerParita. The Parita is unable to take them elsewhere owing to her being without fuel. The refugees embarked at Constanza and have been at sea for many weeks in a hopeless quest for a port. The Parita also lacks money for repairs, food, and other necessities.
