OBITUARY

LORD ROSSLYN

(Received August 11, noon.) LONDON, August 10. The death has occurred of Lord Rosslyn.

Lord Rosslyn, the fifth earl, was born in 1869 and was a son of the fourth earl. He succeeded his father in 1890. He was educated at Eton and Oxford, and in 1886 joined the Northamptonshire Regiment as a second lieutenant. He served with Thorneycroft's Horse at the relief of Ladysmith, and in 1900 was war correspondent of the "Daily Mail" in South Africa. Later he became editor of "Scottish Life." He was a captain in the Fife Light Horse Volunteers for some time. He published some autobiographical works, and was three times married, having a daughter by his first wife and two sons and a daughter by his third wife. His heir is his grandson, Lord Loughborough, who was born in 1917 and whose father died in 1929.
