Fred. B. Suite, the victim of infantile paralysis, who has been living for nearly two years in a so-called "iron lung,'' obtained a licence to marry Theresa Larkin, aged 2i>, a schoolmate of his sister, and the couple were married today, Snite reclining" -in the '•lung."
About a dozen friends and relatives stood beside the respirator during the service, after which a wedding breakfast was held at which the bride assisted her husband.
Theresa was a frequent visitor to the Suite home both before and after Fred, was stricken.
Frederick B. Snite, jun., son of a wealthy financier, became famous in 1937 when he made his journey in an iron lung from Peking to Chicago. Snite was stricken by infantile paralysis in March, 1936, when on a world cruise, and was placed in an iron lung. Before he travelled home he inhabited four different models, and was attended by ten nurses, four doctors, two electricians and some minor assistants. His father admitted to an interviewer last year that the daily care of his son cost about 2000 dollars. The cost of the trip from Shanghai to San Francisco, which was undertaken about fourteen months after young Snite became ill, was- £10,000. Recently the patient visited Lourdes. being given a great reception there.
