INSTITUTE OF SECRETARIES
The Wellington Chapter- of the New Zealand Institute of Secretaries hold its annual meeting and dinner in the Royal Oak Hotel. Professor B. E. Murphy was the guest, speaker..
The annual report indicated that the membership of the chapter had been more than sustained, and that there was a lively intei-cst displayed by examinees in the institute examinations. . •
The following members were elected as the three councillors to represent the Wellington Chapter:—Messrs. J. Annand-Smith, G. N. Boulton, and M. O. Gibb.
Several members spoke in eulogistic, terms of the work of Mr. E. A. Wallace, a vice-president of the institute and a of the council since the foundation of the institute. Mr. Wallace had put in a tremendous amount of work, energy, and time into the establishment of the institute, and it was felt that a great deal of its successes today was due to his energy, foresight and ability.
The following members were elected as the chapter committee for the coming year:—Messrs. E. H. Bell (chairman), R. H. O. Caldv,ell, A. E. Gorton. R. F. Godworth, C. S. B. Lambert. 11. J. Mavefs (assistant hon. secretary). F. C. McNeil, A. W. Nisbet. W O. Urquhart (vice-chairman), E. A. Wallace, and J. R. Perston (hon. secretary and | treasurer). [ Mr. Perston advised that it was doubtful whether he could continue as secretary beyond a period of two months and, to ensure continuity in the event of Mr. Perston having to relinquish tiie position, Mr. Mavers was appointed assistant hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr. C. S. B. Lambert was reappointed hon. auditor.
