BOWLING

SEASON'S PROGRAMME

The programme for the 1939-40 season was discussed at a meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre last night. The closing date for entries for competitions was fixed at September 6, and the closing date for applications for one-day tournaments at October 7.

Committees were elected as follows: —Tournament, Messrs. T. Lock, M. J. Casey, S. Ingram, J. H. O'Donnell, and W. Gilbert. Postponement, Messrs. Lock, Casey, and Gilbert.

Dates were approved as follows:— Senior and junior pennants to commence on November 4; country pennants to commence on November 4; midweek competitions to commence on October 25; Hill Pins to be played on October 25; Edwin Feathers to be played on October 25; Returned Soldiers' Feathers to be played on October 25; Secretaries' and Treasurers' one-day tournament to be played on December 7; Christmas tours to commence on December 26; New Year fours and pairs to commence on January 1; Veterans' Gala Day to be held on January 31; Easter fours to be played on Good Friday; champion of champion singles to be played on February 21, pairs on February 28, and fours on March 7; junior singles on March 14.
