"THE ROYAL RECORD"
"The Royal Record" is an account of all the tree-planting and similar schemes which took place throughout the British Empire at the time of the Coronation. Over 15,000 schemes are mentioned, including some in New Zealand.
When the Queen received the special copy from Sir Lionel Earle she remarked what an interesting volume it would be in two hundred years' time, as well as being of value at the present day, thus giving added point to the Earl of Crawford's statement in the preface: "As time goes on we shall look forward to the Coronation trees, both here and overseas, ever growing in volume, stature, and dignity, while acquiring veneration as they become more valuable." Certainly the account of trees planted, recreation grounds opened, and other schemes undertaken, is a most impressive record of the Empire's loyalty to the King, of which no more fitting expression could be it|iade.
Dr. James Moffatt, the distinguished translator of the Bible, who visited New Zealand some years ago, has accepted an invitation to be professor of the English Bible at Drew Univercity, Madison, New Jersey, for the Academic year 1939-40.
