"Another violation of international j rights and mandatory treaties" sums up a violent Press reaction to the assumption yesterday by the Union of South Africa of administrative control of the Caprivi Zipfel. This 40-mile wide corridor between Angola and Bechuanaland gave the former territory of German SouthWest Africa access to the Zambesi, and hitherto has been controlled by the South-West mandatories. An official spokesman said that this seizure was worse than the bartering of the Hatay, and had been done at Britain's instigation. The annexation did not affect Germany's demand for the return of all tha colonies stolen from her. The "Volkischer Beobachter" declares that the question will not be settled by arbitrary British ideas but by weighty factors which will be thrown into the scales at the proper
