ENGAGEMENT PARTY
MR. AND MRS. ANDREW TODD ENTERTAIN
I Miss Margaret Malfroy's engagement tp Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander A. J. Burden, RJN., was celebrated yesterday evening by many of her friends at a party given by her brother-in-law and siSter, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Todd, with whom she has been staying since _her arrival from England on a holiday visit. Unfortunately Miss Malfroy's fiance was not there to receive the guests' congratulations as at present he is sta-1 tion-ed at Brazil and their next meet-! ing will be in England in the coming year when their wedding will take place. The reception-rooms of Mr. and Mrs. j Todd's home, 9 Tinakori Road, were | filled with a gay throng of guests and i there were big fires to dispel the cold, and lovely spring flowers were arranged, everywhere. Both the hostess and &iss Malfroy had sprays of orchids pinned to their frocks, which were i long and of fine woollen material. Mrs. i Todd's frock was in a soft shade of dark zinnia pink and had a silk sash of a slightly brighter tone, and Miss Malfroy's waltz blue frock was made with a cummerbund effect of Oriental striped silk at the waistline.
