MODERN LADY AT EPSOM

Modern Lady, an aged mare by Worthy Bond from Florrie Bingen, arrived at Epsom from the south this week and went into E. E.; Cressey's stable. She was bred by Mrs. I. E. Sweetapple, in whose interest she won several races. This half-sister to Isabella Pointer did her early racing as a pacer, being placed many times, but scored her only success in the Granity Handicap at Westport, going 3min 28 sec off 3min 45sec.

On being converted to the trotting gait, Modern Lady soon won the Longbeach Handicap at Ashburton in 3min 34 2-ssec off 3.47, and this was followed with a win and second at Blenheim. In 1935 she won the Ballance Handicap at Wanganui, and was placed in each of three starts, at Hawera. The next season she was unplaced in six attempts and has not raced since then.
