SYDNEY, This Day.

The Canberra correspondent of the "Sydney Morning Herald" says that the Premier (Mr. R. G. Menzies), dissatisfied with the rate of progress of defence works, has taken steps to inaugurate a "speed-up" campaign.

He .held conferences yesterday with responsible ■ Ministers, and last night experts from important works. As a result sweeping changes in the carrying out of defence works are expected.
