FORGERY IN PRISON

CONVICTS OPERATIONS EXPOSED (Received July 31, 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 30. Police unearthed an astounding forgery of pound notes by convicts in Parkhurst Prison, Isle of Wight. A convict employed in a studio where incoming prisoners were photographed stole a lens, plates, and sensitised paper with which he forged notes in the prison workshop and smuggled them out with the assistance of a prison employee, who was not a convict.
