RANGITATA DELAYED
The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Rangitata, which arrived at Wellington from London yesterday afternoon, l-an into the gale as she neared the coast. She had a good passage out until she drew near New Zealand and then high seas and strong south-south-westerly winds delayed her considerably. She was due at Wellington at 7 a.m. yesterday, but remained practically hove-to off Cape Palliser for some time and did not berth until 2.30 p.m.
The cargo liners Sussex and Port Halifax, which left Wellington "on Tuesday did not arrive at Lytteltbn until yesterday, and the Waimarino, which also left here on Tuesday for Lyttelton, arrived there last night after sheltering off Kaikoura.
A partial agreement was reached in the conciliation council yesterday afternoon in the dressmakers' and milliners' branch of the clothing trades dispute. Rates of pay were referred to the Court of Arbitration,
