Pope Pius XII is preparing his first encyclical. It will be mainly of a spiritual character, exhorting the. faithful to intensify their prayers and also appealing to rulers and statesmen to maintain peace by solving problems -imicably iv accord with the highest -ense of justice.

The encyclical will be published nther next Christmas or at Easter.
