'By Teletn-aph l- -.■•i.-u-mh GORE, This Day. Deep snowdrifts have blocked many of the roads in eastern Southland, discrganising passenger bus and mail services. The stock losses may be fairly heavy after two days of driving and drifting snow. Drifts in cuttings, several feet deep, block the main Gore'■ Dunedin highway ten miles north if Gore, while other deep drifts lie between Pukerau and Balclutha. Four inches of snow has fallei. on top >f yesterday's frozen crust in Gore, and light snow is still "ailing. School attendances have been affected to such an extent that the schools will prob- ■ ably close tomorrow. A 1 one school today 305 pupils were absent from a : I roll of 520.
