NORTH ISLAND REPORTS

Falls of snow in many parts of the North Island are reported in Press Association messages. «

The first snowfall in the city of Palmerston North for fifteen years o> curred early this morning. A light1 dusting was still on the ground at daylight. Snow on the foothills of the I ranges reached a depth of five inches, the fall being the fourth this winter. ' Snow fell in southern Hawke's Bay during the night, and early this mornj ing it varied in depth from one to two inches in the town and on the flat country. There were heavier falls on the hills. Feilding experienced a record fall, i the whole countryside being covered with a couple of inches. The town is also under snow, which fell early this morning, and there, was another light j fall at 10 a.m. *Snow fell in Wairarapa during the night and this morning. In Masterton it was three inches deep, and in the country there were several inches, with dangerous drifts on some of the country roads. .
