USE OF DREDGE SUGGESTED

It has been suggested that the Wanganui Harbour Board dredge Kaione could be used to advantage in stirring up the sand around the Port Bowen and thus helping to release her. The Kaione is at present dredging in Nelson Harbour. The Wanganui Harbour Board engineer, Mr. R. R. Dawson, when asked yesterday what he thought of the prospects of the Kaione doing the job, replied that the weather would require to be very calm before the dredge could be worked, says the "Wanganui Herald." It would be necessary to get the stern of the vessel close to the Port Bowen and work the suction pumps, and this could only be done in very calm weather.
