YOUNGER MEMBERS TO ADMITTED

There was a large attendance.at the recent meeting of the Otaki Women's Institute over which Mrs. Synnott presided. Mrs; Billcliffe was the winner of the yearly programme competition, and Mrs. O'Halloran came second. A reminder was given that to make the \official organ, "Home and Country," a. paying proposition it was almost imperative, that each member should became a subscriber. First aid classes are being held by. the institute at the Anglican Hall each Tuesday at 7.30 pirn, Mrs. A. Bills was unanimously elected producer of the drama circle. She stated that she would welcome members' assistance in making costumes for the plays entered for the drama festival in August. It was decided to admit as institute members girls between the ages of sixteen and eighteen years at one shilling per annum. The "husbands' evening," postponed from last month, is to <be held in August. At the August meeting, Mrs. Waite will demonstrate the making ofj felt novelties. The competitions willj be a sugar bag apron and a five-minute i sponge from a given recipe. The July! competitions, resulted as follows:—Eggless cake., Mrs. Mathie 1, Mrs. Jensen 2, Mrs. Wallington 3; cushion in wool embroidery, Mrs. Jensen 1, Mrs. Nair^i 2, Mrs. Simpson 3; best blooms, Mrs. Nairn' I,' Mrs. A. E. Taylor 2, Mrs. Bramley 3. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Hillas, Wallington, Nairn, Mathie, and Miss Manz.

Member-s of the Nelson College Old Girls' and Old Boys' Associations (Wellington branches) are reminded of the annual ball which is to be held at the Mayfair- Cabaret on Friday.. July 28. An advertisement in this issue gives '"-ftor nariiculars.
