CHATHAM CUP
LOCAL FINAL
SWIFTS AND WATERSIDE
Waterside, last year's winners of the Chatham' Cup, are to play Swifts in the Wellington city final of this season's competition on the principal ground at ihe Basin Reserve tomorrow afternoon, arid the winners will meet Athletic, of Wanganui, in the. provincial final, tomorrow week. , In Wellington the Chatham Cup competition' so far has produced.football of a truly high standard, and tomorrow's game, because of the calibre of the. teams, engaged, should surpass all its predecessors. After a few setbacks early in the season Swifts have earned great prominence by their fast and clever football, and Waterside will find them no easy proposition. i Waterside, perhaps less speedy than Swifts, have the great advantage of experience, most of their players being seasoned campaigners. Twice already this season Waterside have defeated Swifts, but there is no certainty about the result of tomorrow's game,.except a reasonable assurance of first-class football.
On No. 2 ground at the Basin Reserve Marist and Seatoun will meet in a senior championship game. The result of it will be of importance to Seatoun, as success will enhance their championship prospects. Other championship games will be between Hospital and Technical Old Boys at Porirua, and between Petone and Diamond, at Petone.
