ALL LIGHTS BURNING

SUGGESTION REFUTED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

WANGANUI, This Day.

. Mr. N. G. Armstrong, chairman of the Wariganui Harbour Board, states that there is no foundation for a suggestion that the northern beacon light was not burning on the night the Port Bowen grounded. The pilot staff declare that all lights were functioning as usual.

The secretary of the WangahuiRangitikei Electric Power Board, Mr. G. A. Amundsen, stated today that the light installation was under the supervision of the board. ,As a result of the suggestion that the system might have failed on the night of stranding he had had it tested, and it had been proved that it was in perfect order. The records showed that the lights had been on continuously from 4.30 p.m. to 6.47 a.m. each day this week.
