GOLD HOLDINGS

RESERVE BANK

REVALUATION NOT

CONSIDERED

"The Government has never thought of it, not even for two minutes," said the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) in an interview last night, when asked to comment upon a suggestion emanating from Auckland that revaluation of the Reserve Bank gold holding of £2,800,000 was expected during the next few months.

"We have never even considered it," Mr. Savage added. "It might be expedient in some circumstances and, of course, it was done in England, but we have not thought about it. We have much more important things to do."
