Mr. R. G. Kain returned to Wellington from the south yesterday morning.
Dr. and Mrs. K. Rees Thomas have returned from England after an absence of two and a half years, and intend to settle in Wellington. Dr. Rees Thomas was associated with the surgical practice of the West London Hospital for twelve months and has been visiting many of the specialist hospitals in London.
Mr. R. B. Ashe, manager for New Zealand of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society. Limited,' accompanied by Mr. F. C. McPhail, the society's branch inspector, will leave tonight for the south.
The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) left for Christchurch on Saturday night. He will return to Wellington tomorrow morning.
Mr. J. Buckley, son of Mr. G. Buckley, conductor of the Auckland Artillery Band, has been awarded a German national scholarship in music. For the past two years he has been studying at the Leipzig and Berlin Conservator ia.
