TRAINING COLLEGE DRAMATIC CLUB.
"The Ascent of F6," to be produced in the Training College Hall, Kelburn. | tonight and tomorrow night, is the iwork of W. H, Auden, the most 'gifted of the younger English poets, and Christopher Isherwood, author of the remarkable novels, "Mr. Norris Changes Trains" and "Goodbye, Berlin." A modern morality play, it presents a variety of themes woven into a central one, and the story tells of the exciting attempt by the British mountaineering expedition, tinder Michael Ransom, to reach the summit of a sacred mountain before their rivals. ' From the stage box on the audience's right, Mr. and Mrs- A., mouthpieces of the great lower middle classes in .the cities, speak about the expedition," and are affected for the better and the worse by the propaganda broadcast from the studio on the audience's left. The play has something to interest everyone—jazz songs, a duet, verse spoken in unison and individually, powerfully dramatic scenes in prose, straightforward humour, ■ psychological analysis, tragedy, and a final scene that is rather baffling but absorbingly interesting.
