SWISS SKIER

APPEARANCE ON EGMONT

FIELDS

The first "meet" of the Mt. Egmont Ski Club for the season was held at, the Dawson Falls ground last weekend. Conditions were excellent and a verj* interesting time was spent by a lax-ge number of members.

Amongst those enjoying the sport was Mr. C. Niederost, a Swiss champion, who has achieved much distinction ir, his own country. Mr: Niederost is one qf the party of Young Swiss farmers who arrived at Wellington recently. He is farming at Kapuni and took the day off to try out the. New Zealand "fields." His presence gave a fillip to the day's outing and, in addition to indulging once more in a favourite recreation, he gave much useful advice and. instruction to novice skiiers. i
