KALINGO'S ROUGH PASSAGE TO NEWCASTLE

SYDNEY, July 4,

The Kalingo arrived in Newcastle today, nine days out from Wellington. The voyage usually occupies six days. The vessel experienced strong head winds and huge seas.

The gale, which at times reached 90 miles an hour, blew the Kalingo north of her course. The radio aerial was blown away last Saturday and communication with the shore was stopped.
