MAULED BY BEARS

QUEBEC ZOO FATALITY

QUEBEC, July 4,

While his two children looked on horrified, Dr. Joseph Germain was fatally mauled by two polar bears in the Quebec Zoo.

Dr. Germain was feeding the bears with peanuts when one put a paw through the grating and seized his arm, ripping it to ribbons. The other immediately grasped his other shoulder, and Dr. Germain was held tightly against the bars. He was dead when the body was released.
