VISITOR TO CHATEAU

SOLITARY WALK TAKEN

After he had been missing from the Chateau since Monday morning, tha body of a young man believed to be Mr. D. S. Armstrong, of Auckland, was found lying in the snow about 300 yards from the Ruapehu Ski Club's hut shortly before dusk yesterday, states the "New Zealand Herald" of today. The body has not yet been'definitely; identified. ' •' ©

There was nothing to indicate how Mr. Armstrong met his death, nor was there anything to 'indicate that he had met with an. accident. The cause "ot death was riot established, last night. All that was found \>h the body to identify the victim was a card bearing the name "D. S. Armstrong; 62 Taylor; Road, Auckland." .-.•',

Mr. Armstrong had spent the weekend at the Chateau and ~was not accompanying any party. He wandered about alone and, when equipment was issued to him on Monday morning,. he said he would be away for two days.. Consequently, when he did not "return on Monday night there was ho cause for anxiety. When he failed to retura as dusk approached yesterday, a search, party was sent out as a precautionarymeasure and the body was found in the snow in flat country.

According to inquiries made In Auckland a Mr. David Strethern Armstrong has been, lodging at !62 Taylor Road, Kingsland, since about Eafiter! He was* a Scotsman, about 30 years of age, and it is understood he had no relatives ia New Zealand. He went awajr.pii Saturday afternoon, .but .did not state his destination.
