Harding (Hastings), and i B. Fullerton-Sniith (Marton). '. Wanganui Women's Club. A . particularly good programme made the social afternoon at the Women's Club of more than usual interest. Items were contributed by Mesdames F. Ludbrook, W. Cook, W. Jones, Misses J. Cranstone, and W. Norman, the accompaniments being played by Mesdames J. W. Browne and H. D. Robertson., The attractive rooms were gay with masses of flowers, and the guests were welcomed on arrival by the. president, Mrs. T. Blennerhassett. Among the many present were Mesdames D. Mackintosh, E: M. Cranstone, A. G. Cross, R. J. McDonald, F. Stapleton, W. Craig, A. Haworth, G. F. Lomas, T. Graham, P. Paul, E. Cullen, J. L. Barriball, W. L. Widdowson, Hughes-Johnson, Misses E. Craig, Montgomery-Moore, E. . Davis, and J. Woon. Wedding at Patea. St. George's Church, Patea, was filled with guests on June 13 for the wedding of Anne, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Hall, "Shasta Knoll," and Lawrence, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Hunt, Patea. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore ivory brocade and ivory tulle veil. The bridesmaids, Misses J. Knightbridge (Hawera), J. Hunt, and Pauline Craig (Wellington), wore cream embroidered cloque with cherry velvet sashes. The Rev. W. H. Walton officiated, with Mrs. R. Sargent (sister of the bride) at the organ. Messrs. A. Hunt and D. Grantham attended the bridegroom. The reception was held at the Kakaramea Hall. Return Welcomed. Mrs. E. H. Kilgour was hostess at a party given to welcome back from Christchurch her sister, Mrs. T. B. Harkness, and Miss S. Harkness. Mrs. J. Welsh presented bouquets and wel- ' corned the guests of honour. Among the guests were Mesdames McGregor, ' Astbury, J. Sinclair, McGovery, J- ' Cameron, J. Martin, Misses Bridge, ; Macintosh, Adams, Park, M. and G. Bridge passed a happy even- $ ing. ~ . < Mr. and Mrs. Lan Stewart, who re- ] turned from a tour of the North Island, i spent a few days at Wanganui before j leaving for their new home at Hawera. i Mrs. W. Cook, who lias been acting 1 matron at the W.D.F.U. Rest Home, j "Kaingamoe," at Palmerston North, has I been matron, and Miss Z. ] Code, of Wellington, has been ap- 1 pointed senior assistant. i Miss Gibbons was hostess at an -\ evening party at "Hikurangi" when 1 members of the private croquet club ] who play on the "Hikurangi" lawns, i were the guests. As usual, the floral 1 decorations were particularly lovely. Miss S. Ross has returned from Dan- i nevirke. 1 Miss K. has left for Pal- ] merston North to start training at the 1 Public Hospital. i Miss D. Blythe has returned to Wel- i lington. ' i Miss Betty Anderson, on holiday from I the New Plymouth Hospital, is stay- i ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. -1 D. Anderson, Castlecliff. < Mrs. Douglas Fantham, who has been ] staying with Mr. and Mrs. F. Fantham, 1 has returned to Ohakune. Mrs. F. Porter has left for Christ- ] church! * , ; Miss P. Mcßeth, Auckland, who has 1 been visiting friends at Wanganui, is j now in Marton.
Miss M. Lambie, Wellington, intends to make a stay of two years, and during that time to see most of rural England and Scotland, states "The Post's" London correspondent. Now that the Women's Institute's conference is concluded, Miss Lambie is going to East Kent and to Cornwall, where she intends to make a fairly long stay.
