The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner .tor New -Zealand, London, dated June 30. 1939:---Tallow.—Market. very quiet. Present spot quotations are:—Mutton: fine, 22s 6d to 235; good, 20s; fair, 15s^ 6d to 16s. Beef: Fine, none; good, 17s; fair. 15s to 15s 6d. Mixed: Good, .17s; fair, 15s to 15s 6d; gut, 13s. to 15s. Mutton: Dark to dull, 14s 6d to 16s. Beef: Dark to dull, 13s 6d to 15s. Hemp.—-Manila: Quietly, steady. Closing sellers, July-September shipment. £15 12s 6d. Sisal: Market dull and easy. Closing . sellers, July-Sep-tember shipment, £15 12s 6d. . Fruit.—California Star discharged in sound condition. Strong competition from soft fruit. Apples.—Price lower. Granny. Smith apples. 10s to 12s;" Dougherty apples, 10s to lis 6d; Tasma apples, 10s to lis; Rokewood apples,* 9s 6d to 10s 6d; Delicious apples. 8s 6d to 10s 6d; Stunner. Ballarat, Rome Beauty apples, 9s to 10s; Statesman apples, 8s 6d to 10s. Peas.—-Maples: Market quiet but firm. "A" grade Tasmanian offered occasionally. July-August shipment 80s but no sales reported New Zealand June-July shipment on sample, sold 755, 775. 6d. According to quality No. 1 afloat offered by resellers 76s without 'attracting, buyers.
