LOANS IN LONDON
RECENT RECEPTIONS
The reception given by the London money market at recent dates to various loans floated there differs considerably, as will be seen in the table following:— Amount Issue Interest Authority. £ price, p.a. Co__cil ... 7,500,000 96i_ zy s 1954-59 Thk Union of South African loan was-over-subscribed to the amount of £63,000,000, and lists. were open for but 15 minutes. Dealings began at a premium of 29s 3d per cent. The Commonwealth of Australia loan was an issue of £6,000,000 in registered bon3s, and 80 per cent, of the issue was left with the underwriters. Dealings opened at a discount of 25s per cent.. The Northern Ireland loan closed withm one hour of the opening of the, subscription lists. The London Covin ty Council was heavily under-subscribed, 94 per cent, being left with the underwriters.
