"BRIGHT FUTURE"
IMPRESSIONS OF AUSTRALIA
Sir James Hutchinson, of Dunedin, editor of the "Otago Daily Times;" has returned from a holiday visit to Australia impressed with the future prospects of the Commonwealth, particularly Queensland. Interviewed on board the Wanganella this morning, he said he had been told by a prominent Sydney business man that July and August would be difficult months for Australia, but that once they were over, a term of increasing prosperity was expected. "There was an increase of 5 per cent, in wool prices at Brisbane," said Sir James, "and growers are' looking forward to still higher prices. I was particularly impressed with the bright future that appears to lie before Queensland." Sir James said he had encountered no animosity towards New Zealand on account of the import restriction policy, but he said that Australian business men generally were awaiting the outcome of recent legislation in- the Dominion with the greatest curiosity. Sir James is, accompanied by Lady Hutchinson', and they propose to spend a few days in Wellington before pro- j ceeding sou tli. j
