THE TERRACE
(To the Editor.) ■ ■/: Sir,—There are many laudable efforts by public-spirited citizens to uplift the community by beautifying the environments of Wellington, but right in the heart of the city—on Wellington Terrace—we are presented with the unedifying sight1 of a rubbish dump", partly camouflaged with overgrown noxious weeds. I refer to the unbuilton sections north and south of-Wood^ ward Street, those on the norfo side, between Woodward Street and Boweh Street, being a particular eyesore to the passer-by if not to the' residents who have it to gaze upon from day today. Among the fennel, and other lanky weeds can be seen bottles, tins, sacks, old iron, and even old suitcases. The tops of these sections show up from many points in the lower sections of the city and could be made beauty spots of credit to the city. I do not know whose responsibility this actually it, but perhaps the members of the Beautifying Society can assert themselves in this matter and not have their good work at the entrance to pur city marred by untidy spots inside. —I am, etc., PASSER-BY.
