AUCKLAND, This Day,

The reorganisation scheme carried out by.;- the Housing: Construction ' Department, Auckland, among the outside staff resulted -in- a reduction of the wages of 35 men. The object .is stated to be greater efficiency and econpriiy. V .

The men- involved, are for the most part foremen/timekeepers,,aridunderbosses; in charge of small groups ,of men. These have been reduced/in status and their pay has been reduced to award rates. '/

It is stated that the reorganisation was the result of. a recept disturbance among the staff at Auckland following the resignation iof the inspector in charge. The Auckland staff numbers 500.
