WATER AND SEWERAGE
Matters connected with the water and sewerage schemes for the eastern bays were discussed at yesterday's meeting of the Hutt County Council. Councillor j. B. Yaldwyn said that they had had some difficulty in raising the loan, but had managed to do so.
It was reported that the Department of Labour stated that the subsidy was still available provided the work was put in hand at an early date.
It was decided that the county solicitors should be instructed to prepare agreements for the purchase of water from the Eastbourne Borough Council in respect , to-JPdint Howard, Lowry Bay, and York' Bay, and an agreement with the Wellington Harbour1 Board regarding septic tank discharges. A public notice is to be given of the council's proposal to lay water and sewerage mains on private property at Point Howard, Lowry Bay, .and York Bay, and notices are to be given to all persons concerned as required by the Municipal Corporations Act. Application is'to be made to the Lpcal;Governmeht Loans Board for permission to raise. the Point Howard;; Lowry Bay, and York Bay water and sewerage loans for a term of ten years, the table of repayments to be calculated on a 25-year basis, and the rate of interest to be 4£ per cent. Tenders are to be advertised for the Lowry Bay and York Bay water and sewerage scheme. A special meeting of the council will be held on July 7 to consider the question of acceptance of tenders for the supply of water and sewerage pipes and fittings for York and Lowry Bays, the consideration of the draft agreement with the Harbour Board in respect to septic tank discharges for the eastern bays, and any other urgent matters. A special meeting of the council will be held on July 14, when it is expected that Orders in Council authorising loans for the term of ten years will be gazetted, for the purpose of raising Point Howard, • Lowry Bay, and York Bay loans by way of special order,- to pass resolutions striking rates as security for them, to authorise the issue of debentures, and to sign agreements with the Harbour Board and the Eastbouijne"Borough Council.
