BIG WORK COMPLETED

ASHBURTON, This Day.
The Rangitata deviation, which cuts off nearly nine miles on the Christ-church-Dunedin highway, was officially opened at Rangitata by the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) this morning. The scheme involved the construction of two bridges at a cost of about £150,000. The Minister said that motorists would be saved about £13,000 annually.
