WOOL CONFERENCE

PROGRESS IN RESEARCH

(Receiver June 16, noon.) BRUSSELS. June 15. Mr. Lan Clunies-Ross. at the international wool conference, said that considerable progress had been made by the technical co-ordinating sub-com-mittees of the International Wool Committee with standardisation methods, estimation of characteristics, and the measurement of tops, and also in respect to the tensile strength, durability, and fineness of fleeces. Much interest was manifested in an Australian paper dealing with the investigation of the density and regularity of wool fibres. A recommendation will be submitted to the council that biennial conferences of the textile organisations of producers and workers should be held, beginning in 1940.

The conference confirmed the definition of pure wool, which was reached at last year's meeting in London.
