THORNDON CLUB
The Thorndon Bowling Club lost four members by death and seven by resignation during the past year, but finished the season with an.increased membership, fourteen new members having been enrolled. The financial position of the club was also satisfac?ory Tabilities being reduced by over £fhed^nS a^o^fthe club which & tom be em Pb re erT% *&2«S?3E states that the green was in excellent condition during the past season, and since the closing date the surface has been scarified, top-dressed, and sown so that the best conditions will prevail for the Dominion tournament during the Centennial season. _ "Next year is Centennial year and the Dominion tournament will be held at Wellington," the report states "There will be many other important tournaments and matches . held throughout the Dominion, at which it is earnestly hoped the club will be well represented. There will, no doubt, be many visiting bowlers to the city, and owing to the tax on accommodation due to the number of visitors to the Exhibition it will be necessary to give every possible assistance to the securing of accommodation for members of visiting teams." The club competitions resulted as follows: —Champion singles, E. T. Maclaurin; junior singles, N. H. G. McFarlane; handicap singles. H. Dickson; champion pairs, R. C. Watson and A. W: Cullen; club pairs, H. A. Gold and S. E. Lambert; champion fours, J. Meltzer, W. I. Clark, C. H. Nicholls, and H. W. Waters; club fours, W. J. Millen, W. F. Macklin, A. E.. Boyes, and P. W. Smith.
The club competed in three sections bf the senior pennant and qualified for post-section play in two of them. Mr. H. J. Wynne has been renominated for the position of president for the incoming year.
